Pura Vida Retreat & Spa spans more than 8 acres at 4,900 feet above sea level surrounded by coffee plantations overlooking Costa Rica’s Central Valley and the city of San Jose.

Costa Rica is a global go-to spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Volcanic hills, lakes and plummeting waterfalls shape the lush, vibrant landscape. San José, located in the Central Valley, is Costa Rica’s bustling urban capital. Pura Vida Retreat & Spa is tucked serenely in the clouds, nearly a mile high and overlooking the city. Pura Vida’s climate is spring-like year-round with warm days (70s-80s F) and mild nights (60s F). The sun rises at 5:30 and sets around 6 all year long.

During your stay at Pura Vida, enjoy relaxing swims in the pool, naps in a hammock, delicious food, or a therapeutic treatment in the Pura Vida spa. Of course, there will also be plenty of yoga! We are excited to offer your favorite Orange Lotus classes twice per day in Pura Vida’s beautiful yoga room with incredible views.

Included in the retreat are 3 meals per day. All meals feature both North American and Costa Rican vegetarian, fish and chicken dishes to tempt your taste buds and nourish your body and soul. Pura Vida is happy to accommodate specialty diets with advance notice.

Complimentary coffee, tea, alkaline water and filtered water are available throughout the day. The wine and juice bar in the dining hall stocks sulfite-free, organic wines, Costa Rican and Central American beers, and bottled water. It is also the place for fresh smoothies, and custom-blended chai and turmeric elixirs.

Your retreat spot includes the following:

These hybrid tent-bungalows are the ultimate in eco-chic accommodations for nature lovers. Spacious six-sided tent bungalows contain the same comfortable beds and relaxing lounge areas as other rooms, electricity (no candles, please), space to store clothes, and of course, plenty of fresh mountain air. Attractive and clean shared baths surrounded by gardens are steps away.

Lila Suite

Soaring ceilings, rich natural materials, rustic woods and creamy natural fabrics lend the spacious Lila Suite a crisp, modern air. The Lila Suite has a large private balcony with two hammocks surrounded by lush, verdant foliage.
